Pilar de la Horadada is located in a privileged place in the Vega Baja of Alicante, in the eastern part of the peninsula. It is the southernmost municipality of the Valencian Community, bordering the Region of Murcia.

The blue flag is an award and a certification system for environmental quality that is awarded annually by the European Foundation for Environmental Education to beaches and ports that meet a series of environmental conditions and facilities, a guarantee to enjoy a healthy environment with peace of mind.

The municipality's beaches are endowed with numerous services, with good accessibility for the disabled. They are extensive, of fine white sand with dunes covered with plants that bloom in spring, in stark contrast to the intimate coves of Torre de la Horadada.
